CARBON OFFSET at Clarion Hotel Stockholm

Clarion Hotel Stockholm operates a well-functioning environmental program today and, just like other Nordic Choice Hotels, is ISO 14001 certified. During autumn 2010, Clarion Hotel Stockholm completed a thorough CLIMATE CALCULATION to establish the CO2e impact generated by the business. The study was divided into three parts: climate impact from an overnight guest (one night’s accommodation, including breakfast), a conference guest (a guest who attends a one-day conference in a room, including lunch and morning and afternoon coffee), and a dinner guest (3-course dinner).

The climate study also included calculations on food & drink, rooms, logistics (i.e. transport to and from the hotel), material (all consumables) and business travel. The largest proportion of the climate impact generated by Clarion Hotel Stockholm stems from food & drink and energy consumption in the rooms. In this climate calculation process, we have not taken into account our guests’ travel to and from the hotel, nor does the study include fixed assets such as fittings and furnishings and other assets not considered to be consumables.

On the basis of the result of this climate calculation, and as a part of our continued work for an improved environment, Clarion Hotel Stockholm has chosen to work with Tricorona. In 2011, we at Clarion Hotel Stockholm will also start to carbon offset our business travel. In addition, we will be offering our guests the opportunity to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the climate impact they generate by choosing to carbon offset their accommodation or conference participation on site at the hotel.
