Elements by Studio Tillsammans & Simon Key Bertman
Between the 1st to 19th of February 2012 - in conjunction with the 2012 Stockholm Furniture Fair - Clarion Hotel Stockholm will hosting the exhibition "Elements", created by Studio Tillsammans (Sara Garanty and Sara Stenvall) in collaboration with Simon Key Bertman.
The exhibition Elements is based on four of the five elements that are represented in Ayurvedic philosophy and ideology; Air, Earth, Fire and Water. These elements are a key influence on Clarion Hotel Stockholm’s Elements Spa, and it is from these elements that Sara Garanty and Sara Stenvall from Studio Tillsammans have created a colourful and inspiring design exhibition in the hotel's Living Room. Each part of the exhibition represents a color and an element.
The exhibition is intended to be live and interactive, and each visitor has the opportunity to sit inside the exhibition and be inspired by its colors and design. Many of the design products and furnishings are exclusive releases for 2012.
Each element has its own specific significance:
AIR (white / gray) represents movement and communication.
FIRE (red / orange) represents abundance, strength and focus.
Earth (green) represents fertility, maturity and grounding
WATER (blue / turquoise) represents peace, flexibility and contemplation.
- We wanted to capture a theme already existing on site at the hotel’s spa – ayurveda - and integrate it with design; hence the use of four elements Fire, Air, Earth and Water. Each element has its specific charm and significance, says Sara Garanty from Studio Tillsammans.
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with textile designer Simon Key Bertman, who has produced new textiles in the form of rugs for the exhibition. The rugs are hand-woven and comprised of four colours, in four colour combinations. Altogether, they constitute 16 mixed colour combinations, all of which integrate the colour theme behind the “Elements” exhibition.
